[Semi-Closed Post] the 'how are you's

It's a couple of days before Lancelot is feeling well enough, and before Susan is willing to let him out of her sight. He is still tired -- the incident with Magnus was surprisingly taxing, given the chill and the fever -- and he looks it.

He is dressed in a pair of jeans and a sweater, and he convinces Susan that he's feeling well enough, he needs to check on Magnus. In truth, he still feels on the mend, but giving into the urge to keep sleeping for another day or two would feel wrong.

So he ventures out, first to get coffee and then to seek Magnus. He decides to forego drills today, as he doesn't suppose he has the strength. He isn't entirely sure where to find Magnus, but he heads instinctively for the greenhouse, since that's where he left him. (Lancelot knows he might well find him elsewhere, but this is a good starting point.)

"It was like a deer, but as small as a goat, and its tail was like Dro's," like a lion's tail, long and thin with a tuft at the end, "and its horn was twisted. It let us stroke it."

"That sounds wonderful," quietly. He pauses, then turns to Magnus, "I have killed dragons, yes. Temeraire was the first I met that could speak. At first I thought that, too, was some quest -- but Temeraire is only Temeraire. I assured him I had no interest in slaying him."

"Mr. Alderman could speak, but then again, he was a ring dragon. The lindworms can't talk."

"I think Temeraire is a different kind of dragon. He's more like a snake."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Aye, he little resembles dragons I have encountered."

[summerdude]

"I think he's, like, Asian."

[onthewillowsthere]

"Yes. He told me his egg was laid in China."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Oh," considering this, "I suppose it stands to reason he is not as dragons in Britain are."

[summerdude]

"What were British dragons like?"

Galahad only knows the stories of Saint George, and he looks back at Lancelot.

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Smaller, mostly," Lancelot says, thoughtfully. "Some are quite large, but I've not seen one large enough to carry a person. Poor flyers, though some have wings. Very dangerous."

[summerdude]

"Sound kinda like lindworms," Magnus says. "Except those can get enormous. I want to make an eighteen-wheeler reference right now but something tells me neither of you will get what that means."

"Is it a kind of truck?"

Lancelot very deliberately does not ask, What is a truck?

[summerdude]

Magnus nods. "The biggest kind. ...I don't know if they have truck nuts or not."

[onthewillowsthere]

"They'd have to be much bigger than Gideon's."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot is completely lost. "What has Gideon to do with... this?"

[summerdude]

"Gideon is an expert on truck nuts," Magnus says, catching Galahad's eye and giving him a significant sort of look. "You should ask her about them, she'll be able to explain it better."

Galahad makes a mental note to ask Magnus later if the factions of the prank war have changed. "She does know. She explained it to me."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot narrows his eyes slightly at Magnus, "Very well."

[summerdude]

Magnus flashes him a thumbs-up, but leaves it at that -- he doesn't want to go too hard.

"I like her. She's easy to talk to."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I like her, as well. She's an impressive bladeswoman." A little pause, then, with clear admiration he says, "She put me on my back, the first time we sparred."

[summerdude]

Magnus pictures this, and then grins. It's a great little image. "I could do that too," he says confidently, absently touching his Jack pendant. "If I was still Fighting Guy."

Galahad politely says nothing, since he could beat all three of them.
