Lancelot feels that things have been a strange mix of tumult and routine. This is probably because they have. But today, so far, is routine in all respects. His day has proceeded apace through his usual steps -- drills, tending to Rivelin, coffee, lunch with Susan -- and the afternoon is now stretching out before him in a very satisfying way. He feels good, settled.

And so it is that he's in the café, reading (or mostly reading), with more coffee at hand. Given that he seems to be splitting time equally between having his eyes on his book and gazing out the window, he will not be bothered if anyone comes to chat.

"Clothes?" He says this with a little wince. "I know not how to describe them well, as I've only the one set and they were nothing like--"

He gestures at his own clothes, which today (as ever) are a tunic, hose, boots, a belt. He prefers blue, but this tunic is a sort of wine-like red, which is fine. He's noticed that the things the mansion supplies for him are of good quality and fit well, but that's not the issue.

"I have an example, though, and I could show you."

"That would be great," says Kade, who isn't precisely following from Lancelot's description alone.

"It's in my room, if that's all right." He gets to his feet.

So Kade follows Lancelot to his room, looking around curiously as they walk--he'd immediately claimed the attic as his own, and he hasn't spent much time in the normal residential wings of the Mansion.

Once at his room, Lancelot opens the door and holds it for Kade. The room is very tidy, and though now there is the blue Persian rug, some window hangings, and a few other items to cozy it up, it is still rather spare. There is, however, now a sidechair that is actually comfortable, and Lancelot gestures to it, "You may sit, if you like."

He goes to the closet and pulls out the suit -- an attractive, light-grey tweed with three pieces. "This-- it is called a suit but--"

Oh, cute! "I'm familiar with the style," Kade says, with a slow grin. He's not sitting--he's leaning in to inspect the suit. "You want another? Or a general wardrobe update to more modern styles?"

"Well," considering. "Even those who are here from my own court, do not dress as I do. I'm comfortable in my clothes and don't wish to be rid of them, but--" For a moment, he is thinking, but there is someone I would like to impress, or surprise. But then he gives a little shrug. "Another like this would be well, or merely something similar and less formal."

"So an everyday sort of outfit? Or a special occasions, but not that special sort of affair?"

Lancelot smiles, pleased to be understood, "Aye. Something like that. Either or both."

[kadewest]

Kade purses his lips, giving Lancelot a considering sort of look. "How do you want to feel when you wear it?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

He gives Kade a faintly confused look, "I'm not sure what you mean."

"Powerful, handsome, sexy..." Kade gives Lancelot a searching look. "How do you feel when you wear the kind of clothes familiar to you?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

The confusion cracks into a lopsided grin, "You will laugh, but-- nothing. Normal. Clothed."

"Oh, so you're that kind of man," Kade says, his look turning into a knowing one. "Okay, so what makes you want another suit?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot takes a moment to consider -- in truth, it's because Susan implied (no, stated) that she would like it, and his real problem is that he doesn't quite know how to ask the mansion to supply it, particularly since she assisted in the first place. But he supposes it isn't just Susan.

He says, "Well, it is nice to have something different. And I wore the suit to good effect. I should like to impress or surprise, now and then."

"So you want the suit to inspire a reaction in other people," Kade says. "Tell me more about the 'good effect' from the last time you wore that suit right there."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Folk were surprised -- none had seen me in any such thing before. It felt nice to surprise and impress them. I suppose I also looked good in it. Handsome."

He leaves off that Susan had repeatedly adjusted his tie, or his lapels, all without need, and that that felt nice, felt like being cared for.

Kade considers this. "Do you mind trying it on for me and describing how you feel?" he asks, patting his pockets--ah, fuck it, his notebook is upstairs. "We should go up to my room, too--all my stuff is there."

"Very well-- I recall where your room is. Shall I change and then come meet you there?"

[kadewest]

"Sounds like a plan, Lancelot," Kade says, and claps Lancelot on the shoulder.

When Lancelot goes to Kade's room, he'll find the door propped open--posting a Fuck Off! sign still feels like it won't be taken in the same spirit that it is back at Aunt Ely's school, but leaving the door open does communicate the same sentiment. Kade is perched on a pile of books stacked on something that may, at one point, have been a chair, flipping through a new drafting notebook, his tape measure looped around his neck.

In truth, Lancelot is a little surprised at how self-conscious he feels, walking the halls in the suit without the added purpose of showing up, dressed to impress for a specific event. But most folks are out and about, so he shoves that down and heads up to Kade's room.

He knocks only to alert Kade that he's arrived and comes in. He's got the suit put together well, though the tie is just draped around his neck. "Hello, again."

"Oh, that does look good on you," Kade says, hopping off his stack of books and catching one as it falls, setting it back on top of the stack. He walks over to Lancelot and then around him, scrutinizing. The shoulders need adjusting, and the waist could be taken in a little. "How do you like the fit?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

That little shrug, "Well enough. I would not want to fight in it, and I do not feel quite as ease, but I could dance in it and it doesn't-- I think it just feels different. If I were used to it, I think it might be fine."

[kadewest]

"Okay, so a little uncomfortable," Kade says. "Because it's unfamiliar." He goes to grab a box of pins, and then gestures at Lancelot's torso. "May I?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Aye, certainly." He's as used to having a squire put him into his gear as doing it himself, and there's no awkwardness in closeness meant for work.
