Since they learned of Shen Yuan's death, things have been subdued; rightly so, Lancelot reasons. He has done what he can to be a support for those he loves, and to keep his own worry and anxiety at bay. He worries about how they are all doing, about whether or not they are safe, about what he can do to make anything better -- which often feels like nothing. It's unsettling, and he wants to stay settled and present for them, so he determines to find a way to be so.

As has always been the case for him, being outside helps. The weather is warming and true spring is settling in. (He has difficulty keeping track of what time may be like back in Britain¹, but he suspects that it is early summer there. If so, then he supposes that means he is another year older, which is a strangely hopeful thought.) And so, after his lunch with Susan, he heads back out -- he might ride, or walk through the woods, or explore the lake. Whatever keeps him out in the sunshine, under the sky.



^{1: He has not quite realized this yet, but he has generally stopped thinking "at home" when he means Camelot, or Britain in general. That this place -- no, these people -- have become home in so short a span is something he has to take by degrees, lest he worry about what it means for his relationship with those he left behind there.}

Lancelot laughs, "Quite well. I think all parties were well pleased." He grins, "Thy work was most effective."

"Excellent," says Kade, grinning. "Just what I like to hear."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I've found it comfortable, too. So I've a little more variety, now, which is also good."

[kadewest]

"That's great! I'm so glad."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I'm thankful to thee. I may need to pay another visit, now that the weather is warming."

[kadewest]

"Oh, please do. I'd love to help you out with a spring and summer wardrobe."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Do not let on to anyone else that I am considering becoming less boring."

[kadewest]

"Boring? You?" Kade shakes his head. "Your secret is safe with me, but I'd hardly call you boring."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Predictable, then, perhaps." It's said with good humor, not quite self-deprecating.

[kadewest]

"Predictable, then," Kade says, easily. His grin grows wicked. "At least until I get you into some hotpants."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"And what are those?"

[kadewest]

"You know what shorts are?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

He shakes his head, "I'm afraid not."

[kadewest]

"Short pants. Above the knee. Hotpants are... shorter than that." Kade gives Lancelot a scrutinizing look. "I imagine it would take you a little while to get used to 'em, but believe you me: it certainly wouldn't be boring, and they'd be a huge hit."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot looks thoughtful for a moment, before he grins. "I see."

[kadewest]

"Yeah, I'll bet you do," Kade grins. "Though before I get ahead of myself, I should ask if you've got anything particular in mind."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot shakes his head, "Nothing in particular. Just that much of what I have may be uncomfortable if it gets very warm, here."

[kadewest]

"Oh, that's easy enough to remedy."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Yes?"

[kadewest]

"Lighter fabrics, different cuts... there's tons of options."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I see. That could be interesting."

[kadewest]

"Well, what did you do in England when it got hot out?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I did have lighter fabrics," he acknowledges, "for everyday. If it was very hot, sometimes I swam. Sometimes, though, I had no choice but to bear it, particularly if I needed to be in armor."

[kadewest]

Kade shivers. "I remember those days," he says, and then smiles brightly. "You're going to be so comfy."

Lancelot smiles, "I did find the clothes thou gavest me to be quite comfortable."
