[Semi-Closed Post] the 'how are you's

It's a couple of days before Lancelot is feeling well enough, and before Susan is willing to let him out of her sight. He is still tired -- the incident with Magnus was surprisingly taxing, given the chill and the fever -- and he looks it.

He is dressed in a pair of jeans and a sweater, and he convinces Susan that he's feeling well enough, he needs to check on Magnus. In truth, he still feels on the mend, but giving into the urge to keep sleeping for another day or two would feel wrong.

So he ventures out, first to get coffee and then to seek Magnus. He decides to forego drills today, as he doesn't suppose he has the strength. He isn't entirely sure where to find Magnus, but he heads instinctively for the greenhouse, since that's where he left him. (Lancelot knows he might well find him elsewhere, but this is a good starting point.)

Lancelot very deliberately does not ask, What is a truck?

Magnus nods. "The biggest kind. ...I don't know if they have truck nuts or not."

"They'd have to be much bigger than Gideon's."

Lancelot is completely lost. "What has Gideon to do with... this?"

"Gideon is an expert on truck nuts," Magnus says, catching Galahad's eye and giving him a significant sort of look. "You should ask her about them, she'll be able to explain it better."

Galahad makes a mental note to ask Magnus later if the factions of the prank war have changed. "She does know. She explained it to me."

Lancelot narrows his eyes slightly at Magnus, "Very well."

Magnus flashes him a thumbs-up, but leaves it at that -- he doesn't want to go too hard.

"I like her. She's easy to talk to."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I like her, as well. She's an impressive bladeswoman." A little pause, then, with clear admiration he says, "She put me on my back, the first time we sparred."

Magnus pictures this, and then grins. It's a great little image. "I could do that too," he says confidently, absently touching his Jack pendant. "If I was still Fighting Guy."

Galahad politely says nothing, since he could beat all three of them.

Lancelot is, of course, well aware of this.

To Magnus he says, "If you should ever wish to spar, I welcome the challenge. I am not opposed to being defeated."

"I don't wish to," Magnus says, very politely. "But I would kick your butt."

Again, he's staying out of this.

Lancelot gives a little shrug -- maybe Magnus would, maybe not. Either way is fine.

"Anyway," Magnus says, turning back to the tomato plant and coaxing another few fruits to start growing, "My superior-yet-retired fighting skills aside..." He flicks a glance at Lancelot. "Thanks again for saving my life or whatever, dickface."

Galahad carefully tears the sketches of Lancelot juggling and playing with Drosera out of his sketchbook, and folds them neatly. "These are for Susan."

Lancelot takes the pages, nodding to Galahad, "I shall take them to her. Thank you."

As for Magnus, he turns and offers a bow. "I am glad I could do it. No thanks are required. Be well, both of you."

"You better get used to it, dickface," Magnus says, tossing one final tomato in Lancelot's direction. "Gratitude, bitch."
